Sam Fersky
MSW, LISW
Hi, I’m Sam, a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) with more than 10 years of clinical experience. I earned both my bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Ohio University and have worked in a variety of settings, including alcohol and drug treatment programs, community mental health agencies, and hospital systems. I work with adolescents ages 16 and older and adults throughout Central Ohio.
I am passionate about providing affirming, culturally responsive care that recognizes and honors each person’s unique experiences, values, and identity. I work with clients who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, substance use concerns, grief and loss, burnout, body image challenges, identity exploration, and recovery from the impacts of diet culture. I am committed to creating a space where clients feel respected, supported, and empowered to show up as their authentic selves.
I believe therapy is most effective when it is collaborative and tailored to your individual needs and goals. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to work alongside you as you gain insight, develop new skills, and create meaningful changes in your life. I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where you can explore challenges, build resilience, and develop a stronger connection with yourself.
My approach is eclectic and draws from evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness practices, Motivational Interviewing, and trauma-informed interventions. I also recognize the importance of factors beyond the therapy room and believe that community connection, nurturing relationships, restorative practices, and time in nature can all play an important role in healing and overall well-being.
Whether you are navigating a difficult life transition, feeling overwhelmed by stress, or seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I would be honored to support you on your journey toward growth, healing, and lasting wellness.
