Founder, Gahanna Counseling
I founded Gahanna Counseling in 2009 after working with adults, children, and families in community mental health. Along the way, I realized that healing doesn’t begin when someone sits down in a therapist’s office—it begins the moment they decide to ask for help.
I wanted to create the kind of therapy practice I would want for my own family: a place where reaching out feels a little easier, where people feel genuinely welcomed, and where seeking therapy doesn’t add another layer of stress during an already difficult time.
Every detail of our office was designed with that goal in mind. I wanted Gahanna Counseling to feel more like walking into a welcoming space than a clinical office. Bright natural light, comfortable spaces, a welcoming atmosphere, friendly office dogs, peaceful fish tanks, and a clean, fresh environment all help create a place where people can take a deep breath, settle in, and begin to feel at ease. Beginning therapy can be difficult enough—the environment should help people feel comfortable, not overwhelmed.
I believe every part of the counseling experience—from finding the right therapist to scheduling an appointment to walking through our doors—should feel as straightforward and welcoming as possible.
Today, I focus primarily on supporting the growth and operations of Gahanna Counseling while maintaining a limited therapy caseload. I continue to work with select clients and have experience helping adults navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, emotional regulation, and life transitions. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and I incorporate these evidence-based approaches into treatment when they are appropriate for a client’s goals and needs.
I also believe that creating an exceptional counseling practice means supporting the people who make it possible. Gahanna Counseling is home to a community of independently licensed mental health professionals who are passionate about providing compassionate, high-quality care. I believe clinicians do their best work when they have healthy boundaries, time to care for themselves and their families, and the flexibility to maintain a healthy work-life balance. We strive to practice the same balance, self-care, and compassion that we encourage in therapy because taking care of ourselves allows us to better care for others.
Whether you’re looking for the right therapist, have questions about our practice, or are considering building your independent practice at Gahanna Counseling, I’m always happy to help. I look forward to welcoming you.
